TF HTAP Workshop: Focusing on Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Arctic
(Saint Petersburg, Russia, 1 to 3 April 2009)

This workshop will be hosted by Russia's Federal State Unitary Enterprise's Scientific Research Institute of Atmospheric Air Protection (SRI Atmosphere), in conjunction with their Atmospheres 2009 Conference, 30-31 March 2009.   The workshop will focus on three topics:

  1. Emission inventories and projections of air pollutants in the EECCA and SEE countries
  2. The modeling of intercontinental transport of POPs and mercury
  3. Air pollution in the Arctic

Register Now for Hanoi, October 2008

Registration is now open for the International Workshop on Regional and Intercontinental Transport of Air Pollution, in Hanoi, Vietnam, 13-14 October 2008.  This workshop is being organized by TF HTAP and the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET).

The workshop aims to enhance technical and scientific cooperation on regional and intercontinental transport of air pollution with a focus on Asian air pollution issues.  Sessions will include presentations and discussions on regional and global modeling of air pollution transport, development of emissions inventories and projections, monitoring of air pollution concentrations and deposition, and assessments of the impacts of transboundary air pollution on health, welfare, and ecosystems. 

The workshop will be held in conjunction with the Eighth Session of the EANET Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC8), to be held from 15 to 17 October 2008, and with the assistance of the UNEP Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific.

The next workshop of the TF HTAP will take place 13-14 October 2008 in Hanoi , Vietnam . This workshop is being organized with EANET, the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia. Registration and logistical information will be made available soon.

Wiki Expansion
The wiki established at FZ Juelich to support the HTAP multi-model experiments has been expanded to support the multi-model experiments under the IGAC-SPARC Atmospheric Chemistry & Climate Initiative (AC&C) as well as the other collaborative assessment, analysis, and research activities under TF HTAP. The relevant sections of the wiki can be directly accessed from the menu frame at the left. If you don't have a wiki account, register for one on the "How to Participate" page.

HTAP Multi-Model Experiments
Based on the Washington workshop, some additional experiments have been defined for the SR series (20% global reductions) and for aerosols (separating out dust, biomass, and anthropogenic emissions). Descriptions are now posted. The Event Simulation experiments related to the ICARTT campaign are underway. A summary of the experiments currently planned is posted on the Modeling: Background page.
